Albury Airport Emergency Exercise

18 October 2017

Albury Airport will be in a state of mock emergency on Wednesday 25 October when staff and emergency services conduct a drill to fine tune the skills they might need in a real-life emergency.

Under a fictitious scenario to test the Albury Airport Emergency Plan, crews will have to deal with a passenger aircraft that has skidded off the runway after experiencing multiple bird strikes.

The aircraft fuselage will be represented by buses and volunteer ‘passengers’ will be made up to simulate a number of injuries.

The objectives include fine-tuning access to airport facilities and gates, testing arrangements for transporting walking wounded to the terminal and practicing the co-ordination between the various agencies.

The exercise will be held between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm, followed by a debriefing.
