Runway and taxiway lighting conversion

The conversion of runway lights to LED fittings is the next step in the ultimate plan to reduce carbon for the airport.

The existing runway and taxiway lighting system is comprised of 130 individual lights, which are predominantly 45W halogen lamps. This project will convert the existing 45W lamps into 5W LED equivalent. The conversion of Runway lights to Light Emitting Diodes Request for Quotation have been promulgated to the standing AlburyCity Council electrical provider panel due to the specialist nature of work and uncertainty of border restrictions. The Request for Quotation has closed with three companies responding. The evaluation of the submissions are in progress.

A number of energy saving initiatives have been completed at the airport in recent years, to reduce the airports carbon footprint and create financial savings. The conversion of runway lights to LED fittings is the next step in the ultimate plan to reduce carbon for the airport.
